Louis Hui, MBT

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Louis is a driven entrepreneur and former venture capitalist who strives to make a positive impact on society by supporting innovative biotechnologies that can significantly improve health and society. Louis recognizes the major macro-trends and threats of global food insecurity, including the current issues facing the dairy industry. With his strong understanding of dairy, he envisions Healthy Cow to develop new tools that will enable farmers to “dairy better”.

Dr. Edward Robb, DVM, DACVN

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Ed is a senior global R&D executive with over 35 years of animal health product development, commercialization, and regulatory experience. In his illustrious career in large-pharma, he was principally responsible for developing the top products used today in dairy, such as antibiotics (Naxcel, Excede, Excenel, Spectramast) and hormones (CIDRs, Improvac/vest). With Healthy Cow, Ed's on a mission to apply his expertise to develop solutions that help prevent disease.

Richard Strafehl

Co-Founder, Chairman of the Board

Richard is a serial entrepreneur with an extensive background in agriculture, biotechnology, financial services, real estate, and telecommunications. He has a successful history in developing high-tech startups focused on new product development, implementing innovative sales and marketing solutions with a strong customer focus on value. Richard’s unique perspective, ability to evaluate new technologies and his understanding of broad problems resulted in the founding principles of Healthy Cow.

Dr. Burim Ametaj, DVM, PhD

Scientific Advisor and Professor 

Dr. Burim Ametaj is a Professor of Animal Physiology and Nutritional Immunology at the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Nutritional Science, University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Ametaj does research on Dairy Cow Health including developing new technologies for the prevention of periparturient diseases such as an oral vaccine, an intravaginal probiotic cocktail, a grain processing technology, and identification of monitoring biomarkers for six diseases. In addition, Dr. Ametaj is involved in studying the etiopathology of prion diseases and developing a preventive treatment against brain neuro-degerative diseases.

Barbara Merlo

Operations Advisor

Barbara Merlo provides logistical and accounting support for Healthy Cow. She also acts for other technology companies managing purchasing, investor relations, and marketing support. In the past, she has worked for a World Fair, Young Presidents Organization, and Information Technology company in senior marketing and project management capacities.

Legal Counsel

Don has extensive expertise in M&A, financings, strategic alliances, transactions, and corporate governance. 

Jeff Nonay

Dairy Operations Advisor

Jeff Nonay and the Nonay Family are proprietors of the Lakeside Dairy Farm located north of Edmonton, Alberta. The farm consists of a 250 head dairy operation, on-site cheese production, as well as potato and grain farming. Jeff has implemented numerous sustainable farming practices and he believes in implementing best-in-class technologies. He is a driven “early adopter” and has been a valuable contributor to Healthy Cow and its product development.
